German Raw Apple Cake

Ingredients
½ cup softened butter
½ cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 ¼ cups flour
¼ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup of buttermilk or yogurt or make sour milk by putting 1 Tablespoon of vinegar in a cup measure and add the milk to make 1 cup
2 cups diced apples

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the flour, salt, and cinnamon together. Cream the butter, sugars, and eggs together. Add the baking soda to the milk. Alternate the dry ingredients and milk into the batter of the creamed ingredients. Add the apples last.
Pour into a 9×13 baking pan and add the topping.
Bake for 35-40 minutes.

½ cup chopped nuts
